Drivetrain
The VS4-10 Phoenix Portal is the first platform equipped with the VFD Twin transmission and F10 Portal Axles from Vanquish Products. This combination offers features never before available in a scale kit of this kind. The VFD Twin combines a selectable overdrive transmission and a 3-position dig unit in one compact housing. The F10 Portal Axles are designed to minimize the size of the differential housing and maximize ground clearance around the C-hub and steering knuckles. The connection between the VFD Twin and the F10 Portal Axles is made via the ISD10 driveshafts. The ISD10 driveshafts feature machined CV joints at both ends and splined plastic shafts in between for smooth and efficient power delivery.

VFD Twin Transmission
The patent-pending VFD Twin Transmission is an evolution of the original VFD. It combines performance, scale appearance, and durability with industry-first features. The VFD Twin is equipped with selectable overdrive and rear dig. The twin-speed transfer case features replaceable bearing plates, a brass pivot for the shift arms, and chromoly shift slides. Based on the proven Hurtz dig, the VFD Twin offers smooth and reliable shifting. On-the-fly selectable overdrive from 6.5% to 46% allows for immediate changes in driving behavior and tuning options. The motor is mounted as far forward and as low as possible in the chassis. Compatible with 540 brushed and brushless motors*.

F10 Portal Axles
The F10 plastic molded portal axles benefit from Vanquish Products’ extensive experience in designing aluminum axles. The F10 axles feature a high-strength construction with an integrated truss connecting both ends of the axle. Internal brass reinforcements increase rigidity and lower the center of gravity.

Chassis
The VS4-10 chassis from Vanquish Products is designed for a balanced combination of scale appearance and performance. The C-channel steel frame provides scale detailing, while molded front and rear cross members add strength at high-stress areas. These components feature dual servo mounts, winch line routing, and a scale fuel cell. The rock sliders include a replaceable outer portion that fits the Phoenix body perfectly. The chassis is optimized for the VFD Twin transmission, keeping the Overdrive and Dig servos low in the chassis. The Panhard mount is made of machined aluminum to handle harsh off-road conditions. Molded shock towers support the top of the 80mm Incision S8E shocks in double shear. Narrow front and rear bumpers enhance clearance and improve approach and departure angles.

Suspension
The VS4-10 is equipped with 80mm Incision S8E shocks. These feature large-bore 8mm threaded aluminum bodies, dual X-ring seals, locking preload collars, keyed spring cups, and polished steel shafts. The front 3-link with panhard suspension provides a scale look by hiding the servo, while still allowing full suspension travel. Stainless steel links help keep the weight low and ensure a smooth transition to the rod ends.
